We, at Vision Warranty Corporation (“Vision”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) value your privacy, and strive to be transparent in our collection and use of your information. Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect, share, use, and protect information with respect to our mobile application, as well as the control we give you to access, update, or delete your information.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following types of information:

Information you provide us directly:

  • Your email, password, and last name when registering for an account.
  • Your contract number in order for us to link your account to your service contract.
  • User Content (e.g. photos and maintenance notes) that you save using the application.
  • Any communications between you and Vision, such as information given when contacting customer support, or any emails related to your account (e.g. password resets).

Information we acquire when you use our application:

  • Analytics information
    • We utilize a third-party analytics tool (Google Firebase Analytics) in order to help us measure usage trends for the application. This tool collects information sent by your device including the pages of the app you visit, the type of device you are using (IOS, Android), and a generic location of where you used the application. We do not provide any personally identifying information to the analytics service, so any information gathered from this tool cannot be reasonably used to identify any particular user. Any information provided to Google is subject to their privacy policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy). We also collect information whenever a crash occurs when using the application, which includes information about the crash as well as information about your device. This service is completely optional, and you must opt-in to it, and may opt-out at any time.
  • Location information
    • When you utilize our application, we may collect information about your location, and with your permission, we may also collect your precise location utilizing GPS, wireless networks, cell towers, Wi-Fi, or other sensors such as the compass, gyroscope, or accelerometer. You may opt out of providing your precise location at any time.
  • Camera
    • In order to upload maintenance receipts, we require access to your device’s camera to collect the images. You may opt out of this service at any time but will then be unable to upload any additional photos.
  • Notification information
    • We collect unique instance IDs in order to send personalized push notifications to your device through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. These IDs are used to identify your device but are not connected in any way to any personally identifying information. Push notifications can be opted out of at any time. All of the information provided to Google Firebase is subject to their privacy policy (https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy/).

2. How we use information

In addition to the specific uses we have described in this Privacy Policy, we may also use information we receive/collect to

  • provide you easy access to your information once you are logged in
  • provide you with personalized content
  • monitor usage and trends
  • enhance the security of our application
  • verify your identity to prevent fraud or other illegal activities
  • develop, provide, improve, deliver, and maintain our application

3. How we share information

We will not sell or provide your information to any third parties outside of Vision without your consent, except as noted in this Privacy Policy.

    • We may share information about you with service providers who perform services on our behalf.
  • For legal reasons
    • We may share information about you if we have reason to believe that this information is needed to
      • comply with any legal processes, governmental requests, or applicable laws, rules, or regulations.
      • protect the rights, property, and safety of us, our users, or others.
      • detect, prevent, or address fraudulent activities.
  • Any information provided for legal reasons could be processed and retained for an extended period of time while it is still the subject of legal proceedings or obligations.
  • Due to a merger or acquisition
    • If Vision is involved in a merger, asset sale, financing, liquidation or bankruptcy, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company, we may share your information with that company before and after the transaction closes.

4. How we store your information

Most information (e.g. email, name, user id and any contract information) will be stored in our servers until you ask us to delete them. We use commercially accepted safeguards to help keep your information secure and take reasonable steps to ensure your identity before granting you access to your account. We cannot ensure the security of any information you provide to Vision or guarantee that information related to the application may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed. To assist us with the safety and security of your information, please do not disclose your unique password or account information to anyone.

5. Your choices about your information

We allow you to opt out of select services that do not affect the overall functionality of the application. These services may be opted in to and out of at your discretion. If for some reason you ever want to delete your account, please contact us in order to start the process. We cannot ensure that this process will be immediate.

6. Children

Our service is not intended for anyone under the age of 13. We require users to be of legal driving age as well as have an active service contract on their vehicle in order to utilize the application.

7. Revisions

We may change this Privacy Policy periodically, but if we do, we will notify you before the changes take effect, and will give you the opportunity to review the updated Policy before continuing to use the application. Continued use of the application constitutes acceptance of any modifications made.
